Do you perhaps have a nemmie, Vatso?

What other fish/lifestock do you have in your tank?

Also - is the fish not in the overflow or the sump perhaps?

I have no overflow or sump

I don't have a nemmie - I have clowns, cleaner wrasse, tang, blennie. I do have some hermit crabs one is large not sure if it would eat a fish?

I don't know of anything in the tank that would eat it? & I can't see a body anywhere!!

Well Vatso - give it a day or two. IF the chromis does not make it's appearance before then - I am quite sure that the chromis has died, and that either your hermits, another crab, or even the bristle worms might have made a meal of the "body".... ;)

Depends on your cleanup crew. If they are not hungry tonight, then they had something to eat already...

Nope, seriously. If your cleanup crew is effective, then you will not found any bodies. Of the 5 fish I lost last year, I only found one. Actually only about a quarter of him. Was about 10cm fish, so they cleanup crew could not finish him off overnight.

RiaanP it's that large hermit you gave me - I think he can eat a live fish if he gets close enough. :)

well all hermits & snails are fine - if I don't see 5 fish in 2 days - I will put it down as my second loss :(

was i the smallest of the chromis?

When chromis are kept in small numbers, they tend to take out the smallest one.

How long have you had the Chromis? Newly added chromis and a stressed Chromis can hide for a few days. Give it time, if nothing turns up, your clean up crew did an excellent job.

Any changes recently? Large water changes? Re-aquascaping? New additions?
