I have a 1.2m tank with 6mm glass all around. I have a 10mm base. I checked this morning and the reinforcing piece of glass at the top center came loose. The font part was lying into the water. I measured the tank and it has grown by 5mm.
Do i run the risk of the fish tank bursting for good?
I have just spent R8000 and can not afford another R2000 just yet.
    WHat can i do?

    welcome Galen

i would reduce the water level to half and try replace the center brace.. you obviously do not have braces that run the lengthe of the tank and i would strongly urge you to invest in these..

By doing this it will secure the structural integrity of the system and you can have many years of trouble free reefing with these braces in place..

a picture would help allot in fine tuning the advice offere..

    Hi

I have kind of glued it temporarily.
I have reduced the water level to half. I cant take a picture at moment as i have tape holding it together till the glue dries.
How do i put a brace lengthwise?
    Would it really help?
    Does this happen often?
Im just worried i spend more cash fixing it now and having to buy one in a months time.
    What would you recommend?
    Rather buy a new one?

Hey Crispin, LUCKILY no live stock :) Still setting up phase. But bought 50KG live rock and all equipment. So im ok for keeping stock, just been a bit uncomfortable with the tank. U know, funny feeling that things will #$% out if i dont replace it. Had it for over 2 years to tank is not new. I am seriously thinking of going shopping tomorrow :) Just want a break and a damn fine bargain :)

well ythats all good news:) do you have a sump? you could place a heater and circulation pump in there and keep the LR wet while having that tank sorted.....else look in the classified section of masa (do you know where that is) for a second hand tank you could replace yours with

My first ever marine tank bowed and burst, so I know what you are going through. Check the sale forums, I have seen some brilliant bargains there, @rakabos had an excellant tank for sale for about R2000 a few weeks back, might still be available.
Good luck, may the salt force be with you!
