I think its a good idea.

Taking 100 babies and raise them to size.
VS
Tanking 100 grown ones.

Taking 100 grown ones and you take a high survival rate of 40% and that means you need 250 babies to start that group. 20% survival rate and the starting pool increase to 500 babies.

I believe that this is a much better option than to harvest grown individuals.
