Please say a prayer for my brother Bob. He has been fighting throat cancer for a year. He's had a bone removed from his leg to replace the decaying bone in his face. He's also had major skin graphing done. The first surgery failed, and he will now undergo a second surgery tomorrow. His face...
Just received one of those phone calls nobody ever wants to get. My fiancé’s brother stopped breathing. He was resuscitated, but is currently on life support. We are waiting to find out what caused this and also waiting on a CT scan to determine the extent of the damage. His brother is a 10+...
Some of you may have noticed I haven’t been on the forums much this past week. I just wanted to let everyone know that I’ve been spending my time with my grandmother who is ill.
For those of you that don’t know, I moved in with my grandma a year and a half ago when she was diagnosed with...
I know this topic has come up before, but I can't remember what Bait Fish is. Can someone help me out? Is it commonly (and safely) used for feeding your reef tanks? Is it used to feed anemones?
Is there any reason that it should not be used in reef tanks?
Apparently my captive bred ORA Mandarin that I've had for a few months decided to check out the world on the outside of his glass box.
My dog ate him, which apprently didn't sit well, and came back up! Yuck!
I'm guessing the world on the otherside wasn't what he expected! :(
We are supposed to get hit with a blizzard. They are saying somewhere around 22 inches (56 cm) of snow tomorrow. All of this of course with strong winds! This should be fun!
My fiancé Scott (smitchell) is expecting the arrival of his new grandson Trey within the next 3 weeks. Trey is going to be premature. His mom has been having multiple health problems with the pregnancy, but we are told the baby is strong and healthy. Today she was told that she will deliver...
I have 68 seahorses that are 7 weeks old and 1 seahorse that is 3 weeks old. Why only 1 three week old?.....Someone decided to PLAY dead when the rest of his brothers and sisters went off to great grandma's house to be raised.
All of the 7 week old fry are eating frozen whole mysis shrimp...
While feeding my tank today I noticed one of my peppermint shrimp is carrying eggs. I don't intend to raise these but may in the future.
Anyone have experience raising them?
I got my little spotted ORA captive Bred Mandarin fish in the bag, along with 4 captive bred Banggai Cardinalfish. All will be acclimated very soon! All are juvi's but I'm loving it!!!!!! Pics in the next few days!
I have some mangroves coming next week. Has anyone here kept them? Any tips? Pics?
I don't expect them to help a whole lot with nutrient export, but I think they are cool looking. I may even eventually try to put them in a pot. For now I'll put them in my sump.
There is certainly no shortage of seahorses here. I turned the lights on the juvi's tank today to find babies. I'm not counting these, but I estimate there to be about 80. They look pretty healthy too.
My buddy came over to help me out with the seahorses. He started two brine hatcheries for me. The bottle of decapsulated brine was just about empty. So he adds some saltwater to the bottle to get out as much as he can. He forgets to throw the bottle in the sink to be cleaned. It sits on a...
Egypt Oil Spill threatens Red Sea Marine Life : Discovery News
Between the Chinese ship slaming into the Great Barrier Reef and leaking oil, the US oil spil in the Gulf of Mexico, and now the oil spil in the Red Sea, human error has certainly caused a lot of damage to the ocean this year.
It's been 14 days since Daddy seahorse gave birth to 426 hungry fry. He has just given birth to his first warning baby. Daddy has been captured and placed in the nursery so that his babies will be safe from the pumps.
I wonder how many he will have this time! :whistling:
