For years I have been adding Anhydrous (Meaning w/o moisture )Caclium chloride granuals to the Aquarium column in a solution of RO water to maintain calcium level. Carried out between my regime of weekly water changes (10% per week). I have never had any side effects from doing this . The down side is the cost of The chemical in the lab grade form I buy it in. I started with pet store products which was a blind rip off to say the least and than when I started sourcing the chemical myself it was at 4 times cheaper. Now with the growing cost increases in checmicals I am again looking for a safe alternative. I found a flake form of Calcium chloride in Dihydrate form (contains moisture). This is coming in at a fraction of the Granular Anhydrous form and I want to know if any of you chemistry buffs have used this type?
specs ON product is clean 0.000+% free of sulphur / arsenic / nitrate ect.

Other than setting up a calcium reactor - some feed back please
