Hi Guys

I bought the old shop Nano from Idol Marine this weekend. I just wanted something small and simple for my son who wanted a tank. 500x500x500 (125l) + sump probably 25L (150l total) without LR etc

I've had plenty of marine tanks in the past but have been out of the game for a while. I've never had anything this small.

What equipment do you guys recommend to run that system with some softies but still keep it simple? I was thinking a small amount of fine gravel as well, for firefish etc.

Specifically...

There is an auqasun 24x3w light fitting for sale, is that a good option or are they not a great brand?

How much LR do you recommend?

Skimmer or Pellet reactor or just water changes? 25% every two weeks (and does that quantity that sound about right?

Thanks for help.

I'd say around 15kg live rock, purigen, skimmer and 20l water change every 2 weeks. Not sure about the led unit, check out the smaller zetlight units zt6500.

Hi Trad

Aquasun is a cool led setup, I have a Zetlight ZT6600 awesome lights you can't go wrong, I would go Zetlight all the way

Would be capable to run your tank of 500x500x500

Can set the sump up the way they had it. Was working for up to now, why not keep to the same sump setup?

Can I bounce some idea's about stocking the tank? (FO for first 6 months), can someone post current prices these go for, been out of it for so long I have no clue.

15kg Live rock

Perc Clown
Flame Angel
Purple firefish
Midas blenny

2x cleaner shrimps

How many hermits and snails?

As far as I recall that i an open top tank. Will give that firefish a miss as they are very prone to jumping.

Seems like the Jeboa RW4 does 800l - 4000l per/h. That should in theory work like a bomb in my 115L setup.

I just hope that the RW4 plus the OR2600 return pump isn't too much. Cause I think the OR @ 1.2m is still 10x tank volume per/h add the RW4 at a minimum setting that's another 7x per hour.

With potential for 45x at max.

When I'm back from Kruger (on the 18th) I want to fill this sucker up with water but Idol Marine say they don't have drums I can use and bring back. Does anyone (near the South of Joburg) have drums I can borrow to collect the salt water?

I'll buy one 25L and 2x 5L for RO but I don't want to buy 6 25L drums or do the 40km round trip 5 times...
