I use RS coral pro and so var the best imo, i did stop for a few weeks and bought premix, cant mention the brand but mu parameters was off.

I had good growth and colour on my sps frags.

I know everyone has there own opinion on what salt works best for them.

choose a salt based on the params you keep, if you keep your alk at 7-8 then red sea is a no go as its alk is 12.4, i still see no valid reason for WC but thats my view :)

I tried small bucket of RSPro and did not like it

Its a finicky salt to mix - (even wrote to RS for advice) cos it never was clear but more importantly the parameters were off when I tested ( double checked at lfs just in case my kits were faulty)

Now Using Aquavitro Salinity. Awesome

Why do you want to change?

Hi bud reason for change i got very slight cynco and want to stop it asap all parameters are in check was thinking mabe its the salt i have tired everythinh hence wana change salt any suggestions

Changing salt won't stop cyano, need to get rid of doc's and keep substrate etc clean

Dallasg i siphon substrate every 2 weeks an do a water change every 2 weeks
u see u dont bel in water changes
Wat do u do

I have a giant sea cucumber, I dose vinegar and use orca bio-cubes. I run nitrates at 5-10ppm and my phos is between 0.03 and 0.06. I do run GAC, have insane water flow and yet to do a WC

In all my years I have seen a pattern that springtime yields algae blooms, so my guess is any stability swings in params in this warmer season algae takes advantage and sets in. My strong reason for not doing weekly and monthly water changes is the swing in params.

Yip...just dose alk, ca and mg via doser....one drop lugols at night...

Every second week....i dose bacteria...only mix salt to replenish water lost from frags swopping and acclimating fish or corals...

And i vacuum my sump when i see some ditritus....

Hi dallasg, how big is you're system? And if you don't mind me asking what is you're maintenance costs approximately a month on the alk, mg and ca?

Currently 600L, I dose iodine which is about R140 per 2 months and I use a carx which is about R30 I would guess as for the last 8 months I haven't topped up media or co2, all in all I maybe spend R150 with food

I ran 2000L in my garage and prob spent R200 a month including food, media and additives
