Hi all,

Anyone, in DBN/PMB, wanting to share some Magnesium Chloride and Calcium Chloride with me?

I can only get 25kg bags each and at R200 for the MgCl2 and R220 for the CaCl2 it's not that expensive for what you're getting but it'll take me years to get through it all with my 180L tank.

So, anyone wanting to buy a couple kgs off me?

For the mathematically lazy,

R40/5kgs for the MgCl2.
R44/5kgs for the CaCl2.

Cheers

I'd take 10kgs of each but would like a bit more info like grade of the chemicals where it's bought etc.
Pm me the details if you don't mind

Hey,
@Visser suggested that I get the chemicals from Protea Chemicals. He's said that he's been using theirs for 3 years now with no issues so I didn't ask for any more details.

Hope this helps.

Its BP grade chemicals which is basically food grade.
<0.01ppm nitrates & phosphates & doesnt contain any harmful elements.
Ive been using BP grade chemicals in all my tanks for 3 years without any noted side effects. Only positive results from day one.

Yup product is all good. Only issue I have had is that once the product is opened then it attracts PO4 and other irons and starts to turn to "stone/rock". It cannot be kept in a container for months on end.

I would not consider any purchase that would last longer than 3-4 months. Or that you understand that the life expectancy is such and that there will be wastage.

We use the products. Just a heads up.

I have to dissagree slightly keith. CaCl2 & MgCl2 can be stored for quite a long time, as long as you keep it in airtight containers from the second you open it.

MgSO4 can sometimes clump together & might attrack PO4 if left open.

Secret is to always keep them airtight & store in cool dry place.

As for The bicarb soda. It will naturally clump together even if kept in an airtight container. But can still be used for a long time.

Cool, I'll let you know when I've got it. I'm also going to Plastics World (I think that's the name) in the Crescent to get some containers.. are you wanting?

No should be all fine thanks. Pm me your banking details so I can eft you the cash now and then make a plan for collection

Yes, please, @williet. Epson salts, if that's ok? Let me know how much you want for 10kgs.

Read that pm I sent you, @durleo. You'll see that you need to mix magnesium sulphate with magnesium chloride to make your magnesium component for the tank.
