Hi Reefers,

As we know there are quite a number of LED lighting options out there today.

I thought an open discussion thread would be a great idea to help anyone choosing to go LED system for their reef.

ANY comments in this thread are welcome, so share your experience with us.

I Feel an open discussion would be really helpful for any reefers deciding to go LED.

This also helps us retailers to advise our customers best, we all don't get the opportunity to experiment with all makes and brand variations, but we do have access to everything for your tank.

Whether this thread goes NORTH, SOUTH, EAST or WEST we don't care.

BUT ONLY COMMENT if you are using LED'S (not what you have read) and have experience with a specific product, like or don't like.

Let be the main focus on the ability to grow SPS, then we look into features, spectrum, value for money etc ect etc ....

Please ensure you mention the pro's and the cons of your kit.

The floor is yours .....

I'll start, THE KESSIL A350w ROCKS !!!!

I will second, my DIY UNIT beat the 4 retails units I tried
Vertex illumilux
Beamsworks
Exotec par38
Chinese aquarium light

I am now so excited to try my orphek dif100 and get my orphek atlantik this year

I looked at kessil but needed 4-6 of them, orphek gives me 900x1000 foot print with 300+ par on gravel
Also tested over my 1000x1000x300 tank 1m above the tank and wow

I think all of the Cape Town reefers that came to the last two braais can vouch for the Maxspect Mazarra units. At the rate the Razors are flying out of the warehouse, I dare say they are extremely popular :D :D :D

Hi Andre , the LED units that you guys sell , what should one call them as i have a unit but it has no name on it

Yes your lights were impressive but haven't had experience with them.
Even though I don't have anything in my tank as it's still cycling the DIY Cree LED unit looks impressive but will see once the tank is stocked. I would like to have it measured some day but will have to find someone in CTN who has a par meter first.

Maxspect razor baby!!!!! Great unit! Superb light distribution! Super fly looking!! :yeahdude:
