Littorina. They definitely won't work because they rely heavily on tides and spend most of their time out of water.
The black variety you pick of the rocks works great! I have 2 in my tank for well over 4months and still going strong....they simply clean everything....dont even leave the smallest bit of algae behind. Way better option than "turbo" snails we have to pay R40 for at LPS.....
Yip those are the ones I had, got them down here at the coast, and acclimatized them slowly to my tanks temp. They cleaned the glass well but where constantly moving out of the water and didnt last long.
The intertidal snails will eventually learn not to climb out. But certain species like these that do spend a lot of time outside the water will take a lot longer. Be prepared to pick them up from the floor, under the stand, behind the pipes and other places where they can go in but not your hands. If you got a rimless tank, forget about them. You will eventually give up putting them back and they will die outside your tank after too long exposures.

Also had them, good algae cleaners, but mine all died after four months. suspect that they don't live long and at high water temperature very short.
