Sold my 1,2M - but emptiness overtook me when I saw it go.... piece by piece... :(

Decided to get a Nano :)

Kick-starting it with a full bag of Purigen from my old tank, and 5 kg's LR and 2 kg's baserock and some phosguard.

Substrate is 15.5kg sugar sized round white aragonite.

Will be keeping the 2 PL tubes for now, but hoping to add some LED later...

Boyu WG-308 skimmer
2 x 3000 sun-sun's - (1) for now.
1400l/h Boyu return pump.

Pictures are pretty useless as everyone knows what an empty TL550 looks like :p

Looking good Louis:thumbup: its a wonder you didnt go the prodibio route its quicker and wayyyy more efective.... my tank was stocked on day 2 , and @ weeks later not a single loss, everything is thriving

Makes a big difference, I think the boyu shoul come out standard with 3 of these.

i think the original light has clear perspex cover for a reason ... those tanks with sealed hoods sweat allot... so in my opinion i think you shud cover the addition aswell cause ur endcaps could rust or generaly water will get into them

other than that, awesum upgrade:thumbup:

Looking good - nice mod , maybe seal the wiring connections with silicone , but wait for it to dry before you switch it on or you will trip the lights as its conductive until dry.

Nice one...

@Perky pets superstore

Thanx

The ballast(electronic) is on the outside of the tank. Sealing it with silicone will permanently attach the ballast rubber connectors to the globe, making changing it a schlep. Everything is dry inside, but when I start getting bad connections, I will consider getting hold of a T24 fitting, to which I can silicone the plugs. The ballast I assume was meant for T8's, cause it has the dual rubber clams that fit over a T8 end.

@JsREEFn

The TL-550's cooling fans does not suck air out, it in fact blows the warm air into the inside of the canopy. The outlet for that hot air is just above the light that I installed, so when all the lights are on, there is no condensation on the inside of the lid where the lights are.

Correct .... When lights are on....

The point we making is condensation buildup which is inevitable when lights are 'off' , soaking ur light fixture and end caps .... It will be soaked in water in the mornings before lights go on.... So it may not hapen immediately, but 1 day it might trip out .... And no,u can't silicone it :lol: but maybe diy a perspex cover ,u good @ diy

There is a place called 'cape plastics' they do perspex cutouts to ur specs, so maybe measure out the exact sizes u need and then its just some glue,put dem together, and u sorted... and a new trend setter for tl-550 light upgrades :)
