Absolutely disgusting. Hope they get what they deserve.
Just as a matter of interest Paul Hunter from African Diver will be accompanying us to the Red Sea on the 19th. Last year Cormack McCreesh accompanied us on the north trip.

I watched a thing on mnet about the shark fin industry in moz. There are villages set up to catch sharks and cut off their fins.. at least the people eat the sharks and not simply throwing the bodies into the ocean.. but because of this there are so few sharks in moz. You cant blame them as they are living in poverty and need some income.

It has now become international law that no bodies of sharks or any other fish to be thrown back to sea. I'll try to find the article.
The soup is a chicken broth with the fin to add to texture no flavor coming from the shark fin. Each bowl is about $100ea. also away to flash out their wealth at weddings etc. The fin has no ties to their culture to what I understand.

hope these guys burn,sit in jail and get destroyed in jail. Alot of animals has to suffer and get poached because of how some people have to show of their wealth. especially in that part of the world. its sickening some of the stories Ive heard and somethings Ive seen. That place is the last on my list of places to see.

It is not good the consume shark meat because of the level of mercury being too high. Since research has been done the villages around moz have been warned it leads to alot of sickness.
Burn in jail? Too soft on those china's I reckok they should have their limbs chopped off & leaft to bleed to death the same to those people buying bowls of tastless soup.
Very true & yet in India they sell whale shark meat & manta ray gills.
Well it's almost pilot whale season on the Faroe islands & soon it's dolphin round up again in Taiji, Japan (The Cove) . How can we get through to these people that they are destroying our oceans? It fustrates me that they believe the ocean has an endless supply of these fish. But are so thick headed to realize what the are actually doing to the worlds ecology & how important all ocean life forms are to us humans existance.
