Washing Aragonite????

Hey Guyz

just want to add Fuji Pink aragonite to NEW DT...is it neccesary to wash it like they wash REGGIes play sand or is it clean?

Yes you need to wash aragonite. Just once to get rid of anything that might have been collecting while it has been standing.

Its really just to take out the fine powder created by the internal particle abrasion during filling and transportation processes.

Well if you dont rinse your new aragonite your DT water will be cloudy for a day or two.But other than that there is no need to wash it.

Well if you dont rinse your new aragonite your DT water will be cloudy for a day or two.But other than that there is no need to wash it.

I put a plastic garbage bag down on the sand before I fill the tank, otherwise my tanks would also be cloudy for a few days.

Honestly i wouldnt take the chance in not washing it. Even if they said they've washed it.

I've never washed sand that was packaged for a marine tank. Play sand, yes, I've washed....for several hours! I've never had a problem with either, and I've had many tanks, to many to remember.

dont wash! no need to because your skimmer will pull out whatever is kicked into suspension .

Playsand - wash decently

Caribsea arag-alive - DO NOT WASH as it is ready for use

Normal aragonite - wash if previously used, don't wash if pre-packed and imported.

Most aragonite is sealed and vacuum packed anyway, so why wash?
