PB tang hates himself

Guys i changed wall paper on my tank, i was using a blue actanic light against a white wall, i have now put a black backing, since it was up i noticed something

My PB tang is seeing his own reflection and is NOT liking it. He keeps going for himself and seems totally p1ssed off.

Will he leave himself alone or should i take the backing off? i'm worried he stresses himself out.

Oh and my chromis think there are more of them to school with:lol:
 
LOL Geoffrey! Really funny man....

But, in the case of the tang - I think that this could be an issue. The tang might get stressed due to "fake fighting with a fake intruder" ;)

Just monitor the fish - if this goes on for more than a week - do something about it. Perhaps let corralline algae grow on the back, or leave a bit of the "micro algae" and "diatoms" that sometimes grow on the glass... this will change the reflecting capability of the glass a wee bit...
 
thanks. I got sneaky and fed him a couple of bites of nori, but now he's even more pumped up and is super keen on killing himself.

The backing looks really great by the way. should have done it a long time ago. will post pics on my tanks thread.

Jacques please can u do me a favour and change the name of my thread "got a tank finally" to; "Geoffrey's 4ft" cause i've had a tank finally now for almost a year, so yes it is final!

Mine also did it. It seems to be a PB tang thing. The black backing would increase the reflection
 
He never really stopped but he never hurt himself. He would just swim about nicely then all of the sudden charge at his reflection zig zagging his body at the glass
 
if he gets stressed he can come down with a nice bout of white spot which i'm scared of...
 
I wouldn't worry too much about that. Just feed him a few times a day and he should be OK
 
My male anthia also does this as well as my clown goby although they're not as obsessed as the PB was
 
my pb goes crazy at my magnet glass cleaner.the moment i move it to clean the glass.he starts to attack it with his tail.he also gets these white tiger like lines on his body when he is attacking the magnet.im too scared to add another tang to my tank coz i thing mr pb will just kill it.
 
dude my tang turns into a blue and white zebra! it has these dark blue stripes then a couple of pearl white lines that runs down his body. its really changed the personality of all my fish, they seem very cautious

well i'll see what happens after a week, but if mr PB gets white spot i'll get a diff backing, black non-reflective.
 
I have a Naso who does the same, everytime I clean the back-pane, it allows a certain amount of reflection and for the first couple of days, he races up and down the pane, trying to knife his reflection. After a day or two (maybe the reflection dulls ??) he's back to playing with the other tangs.
 
Ridwaan. My blue green chromis goes ballistic when I clean the glass with the magnetic cleaner. Some guys put a mirror on one side of the tank when adding another tang with a PB so the guy spends his days obsessing at his reflection while the new guy settles

UPDATE: PB has decided that the man in the mirror is not going to die and also not going to make it to the front of the tank so he's calmed down completely.

I cleaned the back of the tank again and the Policeman is not keen on doing anything to himself, more interested in me and my NORI (he goes mad for it)

BUT WAIT - my sixline is now having a go at his brother in the glass, he hides behind a patch of corraline, then BOLTS out at the glass flarring up for a couple of seconds. OMF its so funny
