Hey crew. Im off to St Lucia after about 8 years. Im going to be staying at a place called Stokkiesdraai from the 13/10/08- 21/10/08. Any one stayed at this place or familiar with it? The wife already booked and paid for it. Is this place good?
Im going for relaxtion and lots of fishing and what ever else there is good to offer :)
 
not sure but always good to get away from the norm... enjoy bud.. my wife normally takes me inland so that im not distracted by the surf... :lol:
 
Ok fellas.Like i said, been a while since i've been to St Lucia.
1.Anyone knows what fishing is like in the estuary?
2.Is it better to fish closer to the river mouth or more inwards (mainly for grunter's?
3.How is fishing on the surf?
4.Is fishing during the day worthwile?
5.Any good spots for catching specimens around the area?
 
i went there last year on a school camp and we got told fishing was kuk because they closed the mouth off, however since then it has re opend so im sure the fishing has picked up.
 
Mekaeel - where-ever you plan to fish, please just be very careful of the hippo's. You might end up 6-feet under if you don't watch out. There have been a LOT of reports in the last few years of hippo's attacking people who were fishing at the estuarine.

BUT - other than that - I can just say: "I WISH WAS WAS YOU" ;-)
 
forget about the hippos...lol. The crocs of st lucia takes an average of 4 people a year, only 2 was taken so far, so do not be the 3rd.
 
when we were there the guys were standing so far away from the water, couldnt understand why, then we got told not to go close because of the crocs.

Speaking about crocs. The last time i went there, it was at night, and another fisherman hooked a skate and as he brought it towards the shallow waters, we could see a croc chasing it.As he landed the skate the croc grabbed it. Was rather cool to watch though.

lol sounds like an "armourr plated tax man!" i hate looseing fish to sharks or things! Landed half a Giant travelly cause a shark took it when i had the leader into the rod already and I was standing in the water.....ie it was closer that 9 foot from me.....i backed off!
