Hi all,
So today I bought the salifert po4 test kit.
I followed the instructions to the T and boom! Zero phosphates in my tank water

Now for some reason I decided to test my tap water...
So, I tested it and according the the test kit I have zero phosphates in my tap water to???
And I really mean zero, on both tests I got a totally clear result.

Can someone with the same test kit please perform the same test on tap water and revert back here?

I mean there must be some phos in tap water??
Really hoping my test kit is ok. Says it expires in 2015

i tested my po4 test with a grain of fish food that contain phosphate just mix it in with the regents

Can the test kit work on both salt and frehwater? Is the test exactly the same on both?

Ive also used a couple of the salifert test kits in the past.
Ive always found them to be quite accurate, but sometimes difficult to read, & thus I changed over to red sea pro test kits, & they are REALLY amazing, very easy to read, & always accurate... (No guessing!)

As for the salifert po4.
It is quite possible to have 0 PO4 in your tap water... But, to be sure... You can mix some frozen fish foods in a few ml of aquarium water, leave it for a day, then test the water...
If you still dont detect anything, it may be faulty...

thanks guys,

i did as instructed and got a dark blue result. so the test kit is fine

you learn something new everyday! i learnt that my tap water has zero phosphates! :1:

Lol, dont we all...
I absolutely love learning new stuff... One of the reasons I love this hobby, as there is something new every single day. (Even after keeping aquariums for most of my life...)

Wow, awesome to hear you dont have any phosphates in your tap water...
Are you using normal "city water"?
