1. Use 5ml syringe and suck up 4ml of Tank water...
2. Squirt into Test Vial...
3. Shake KH-Ind bottle slightly and add 4 drops of that into Test Vial(with the Tank water)
4. Put plastic on syringe and suck up KH..till top..(1.00ml mark)
5. Release drop for drop into the Test Vial..until colour changes..
6. Turn Syringe around...tip facing up...and read the position of the top end of the black section..
7. Then read the value of that in ml's...the table will then show the dKH value...

Ok, empty out the box onto the table, the bottle that says Alkalinity Check Solution, you do not use that so put it back in the box.

  • With the big syringe, suck up 4ml of tank water and squirt it into the empty test vial.
  • Now the KH-Ind bottle with the dark blue liquid in - give it a good shake then turn it upside down and gently squeeze 2 drops into the test vial. Turn it upside down carefully because normally one little drop falls out, you don't want that first small drop in the vial so let that drop onto some toilet paper.
  • Swirl the vial gently to mix the solution.
  • Next, the thin syringe, put the yellow tip on nice and tight and suck up liquid from the big KH bottle, keep pulling until the black rubber has gone past the 1.0 mark and then stop.
  • Now start adding the drops from the syringe into the solution, swirling after each drop until it changes colour to orange/red or pink.
Then look at the reading on the syringe where the black rubber is and read off the sheet what your alkalinity reading is.

Hope that helps, shout if you need more help, I have my test kit in front of me. :)

p.s. Always rinse out both syringes and the test vial under the tap before storing them back in the box.

Ok Guys will try it wen i home jus now
..ps The dkh should b not lower 8 on chart correct

8 is a nice ideal reading, but an acceptable range is anywhere between 6 and 12, although I prefer not to go higher than 11.

Thanks Viper will do gest, wen i get home lol

@ Viper sorry but you have it wrong, it is 4 drops not 2. 2 is for low resolution mode. But then you add 2.ml not 4.

I have the instructions open in front of me and it is a new test kit.

They must have changed it then, because my instructions say "add 2 drops in the test vial (1 drop for the low resolution mode). See photo...

Yip, exact same one, although mine expires in 2013 so they've obviously changed it in the last year or two as I bought this kit about 2 years ago. Oh well, at least now we know. :) Sorry Belinda, you were right, but so was I :p. Mandarin, I suggest you follow the instructions in your box.

Cool, I see the copyright on yours is 1997-2010, mine is 1997-2008. So it changed between those 2 years. :detective:
