hi guys i got to do a partial water change, bought red sea salt to mix with my distilled water but i dont have a refractometer yet (still waiting for it from shipping) is there any way i can test my mix before adding it to my aquarium? with house hold items???

use RO water please.. Which red sea salt are you using? The coral pro in a black bucket with purple stickers?

Remember to always add salt to water and not the other way around. Get the water to temp, then add salt and circulate with a small pump for at least 24hrs to ensure proper dissolving of salt, mixing and gas exchange. Test the salinity and adjust if needed. Leave again for a day if you had to add salt for the above reasons. It is always best to have made up water in storage(bucket with pump and heater) in case of emergency. Maybe one day you need to do an emergency water change and you might not have available...
