Both the banner and the yellow tang had grown very nicely. The banner was a beautiful fish and the center piece of my tank, losing both was very upsetting 
You are using cubes and dosing vinegar?
Sorry about you loss. Tank is looking good though.
I've stopped using the cubes and am just dosing vinegar.
If you don't mind me asking, why?
Both the cubes and vinegar are a form of carbon dosing, one solid and one liquid. Although both can be used together can be used together I don't see much reason for using two carbon sources.
I have an automatic doser so after a month of so of gradually increasing the vinegar dose and and removing the cubes little by little it was set and I don't need to do much other than refil the container once a month. Almost as easy as the cubes
The only reason I could think of having both is if I was manually dosing the vinegar and I wanted the cubes as a fail safe in case I forgot to dose or was going away for a few days.
