I have a 4 foot tank i used to use for fresh water. Was just wondering if this could be converted to marine.

I'm not sure how i would filter it etc. As no sumps etc. Standard tank.

I'm pretty sure you would have to drill a hole in the bottom of it

Not necessarily.
But that is one of the methods chosen most.

You could use a HOB (Hang on back) skimmer, and a flow connection from sump to tank. It may not look the "cleanest" but the tank can then be run without any drilling.

The easiest (general alternative is to get it drilled (either bottom, or top...)

Do the effort a go the exta mile, drill the tank while it's still empty, you won't regret this later on.

Yes it can be done.
Standard box corner overflow, drill the buttom in the corner. Use tank connector as found at the swimming pool section of Chamberlains or Builders Warehouse. Get old 90L Doro tank (many available in Junkmail or Gumtree), add chambers for standard 3 chamber setup. Get a TS2 skimmer (or anything else similar is specs). Use central chamber as a DSB, or fill with Seachem Matrix.
