thanks everyone, I think my sump is finally done and ready to go.
my LFS only skinned me a little bit so I'm not too upset.
now all I have to do is wait for the thing to cycle.

Frans, it's usually the warm white bulbs

No, warm white is usually only 2700 kelvin. Cool white is 5500 - 6200 kelvin which is closer to natural sunlight and is the prefered rating at which algae grows best. I bought the Phillips cool whites and they're 6200k - my chaeto grows like crazy ;)
