New Sump (dsb)

A nice simple functional sump. Just the way I like it. Well done. You needn't have worried about the flat glass section at the start of the DSB section as the water level does not drop off here. But all is well.

hey viper, i had a flood the day i installed the sump.
how long will it take before my glass will crack?
Yip my filter is still in all my filters in my DT(i clean them every week)
Thanks hill(i loved this project)

You going to have to empty it.

What wood is it resting on?

The wood looks like shutterply, when it get wet it will swell, as Viper says empty it and get a 20mm piece of polystyrene under it, much better than mopping the lounge at 3 am;)

the wood is pine.
i'll add a polystyrene tommorow.
My dsb has a worm in it ,this means that my dsb is growning criters(i'm very happy :) )

It i supposed to have worms in it - that is why I kept the sand moist.... To keep them alive! :)

yip, it seemed to work.
must i take the araginate out aswell, if i add the poly....?(won't i mix the ditritus that is on the top in, if i remove it)(30kg)????

No need if you are careful and if the silicone was done properly and the glass is thick enough.

o.k ,i think i must take the araginite out first.
My diy skills is good, but not that good that i can test it:whistling:
