Mysids

Hi Michael
Thanks
I have sent him a message too.
Someone else was also looking for Dans feed, but I cannot remember who?
Regards Steve

I was collecting at Swartkops yesterday and saw a large shoal of mysids, of course the mesh in my net was too large and I had to swim several hundred metres to Rogan to get the finer net, unfortunately when I swam back they had disappeared.

If you talking about tiny like shrimps I have plenty breeding in my tank. It was breeding for years in my past tank and again in my 400L. The fish feed of them too.

Unfortunately not much, I started following up on a getting some from a guys sump in Cape Town but that lost momentum, maybe they were too difficult to catch.
I tried to get the local estuarine species, it is usually nocturnal, last summer I saw a shoal of them several metres long but as I was looking for tropicals my net was the wrong mesh size and by the time I got to the side to change nets the shoal had gone. I intend to try with a plankton net at night time when they are normally more active and with the added bonus of possibly getting the local Acartia species. Apart from getting the time to do it, our local rivers recently flooded so I have to also wait until they have settled down a bit and there is less muddy freshwater flushing down.

I still have pleanty of shrimps breeding all the the time in my tank. I have them for couple of years dont know exactly where they came from. These are shrimps but dont know exactly if they Mysids. I started using Blackpowder again which is highly concentrated Amino Acids, they going to love it as well as the corals.

so they are just living in the DT or in a refugium?

I dont have a problem giving you or your friend the shrimps but how they going to survive and breed in your guys tanks. My tank has maybe some kind of food they feed on hence they still breeding and surviving for couple of years.

Or look similar to this
