We’ve seen our share of average snorkeling videos from coral reefs but none featured such a high density of stony corals at such a shallow depth. This video made by vivaldi at Ari Atoll in the Maldives features all manner of very shallow water stony corals with Acropora and Pocillopora being very well represented. There is a beautiful contrast of colors which is supported by the intermixing of many stubby branching SPS corals and table acros. The slow and smooth glitter lines gracefully move across the expansive corals and they are only occasionally interrupted by coralline algae-covered rocks. This coral scenery is surely what most stony coral growers think of when they aim to grow a coral reef aquarium, and they really ought to take note of the ratio of coral biomass to the few fish present in this particular video.
