Hi

I want to find out which local algae we find around our coast, would be good food for algae eaters we normally keep in our marine tanks like tangs etc. Do you perhaps have experience feeding live algae?

Would certainly like to hear your thoughts on this, not the legality thereof, but the nutrutional value thereof.

I would be concerned that I would be introducing unwanted pests and or disease.

I was just thinking, what about giving it a good freshwater bath before you offer it to the fish? Would that help?

Once an Ich parasite is encysted freshwater dip will not kill it as far as I know. I do not know if ich is prevalent in your waters. This is just one example of how a disease can be introduced. Not worth it in my opinion.

Unless of course you quarantine it properly and then do a freshwater dip after the quarantine period.

What's wrong with good old fashioned nori or the normal see weed we buy in packets? I know lots of people just feed their harvested calaupra to tangs.
