Are those perhaps not daisy pollups?
Had purple ones that went brown after I sumped the rock for about 3months, then wen I put the rock back
After one month they began to go purple again.

Because of the way it is spread out, i was reluctant to think they're brown star polyps.

It does not have the 'mat' which star polyps usually grow on.

I'm thinking daisy polyps though as @weezle says.

So in other words, even if it does not get light in my sump, it's not going to die off?

Yip Zoe's are the same. After 3 months of darkness in the sump there was a very thin matt of Zoe's you could just see the raised bumps in the matt where the pollups are.
I put the rock back in the display and One month later the tiny raised bumps are opening , in a week or two they will have made a full recovery.
I had to sump a few rocks as they were leaching phosphates and growing GHA ,I'd rather them do that in the sump where I can't see them.
If those were star pollups I think you would be Abel to see the matt
