Guys just remember that site is based on Cree LEDs. According to a few tests Crees are 30-50% more powerful than bridgelux.

Manic is correct. For my 1.2m tank. Bridgelux suppliers recommend 90 Led's, cree suppliers recommend 36 Led's

Just a update on my future led build. I collect 3x 12-20 dimmible led drivers 3w (60w) and 2x 191mm(w)x490mm(L) heatsinks today from the very helpfull MANIC. Thanks Manic!!!

Here is a couple of parts and i gave my buddy one heatsink to remove the edge on his milling machine

any advice welcome please as this is my first led build

Time for a update. So i fit two drivers and one computor fan on one heatsink (490mm x 191mm)

I ordered the led's and optics, so patience is on me

Ok so i ordered and pay the following
* 10 x 3w white color cree led R3 XPE with PCB 20mm 6350-7000k
* 10 x 3w cree led XRE Q3 with PCB 20mm
* 10 x 3w high power led 10 000-20 000k
* 40 x 3w blue high power led 440-460nm
* 4 x Potentiometers
* 100 x 60 degree optics

Hi i just want to find out if i need red/green/uv led's aswell or is white and blue good?

I'm tagging...all the DIY LED guys on one Thread.......I'm getting mixed up with 6000k -6500k...then we have the 10 000k - 20 000k...and I'm getting mixed up with "which one is which"...then "cool white" and "warm white"..ok now which "blue" is 10 000 - 20 000k....ok...which "white" one again is now the 6000 - 6500k.......

Love the way the Unit is coming along...I was thinking of buying "a complete Unit" but I'm finding out that trying to "save" isn't working for me...so I'll start and buy..1st blue, then the white, then blah blah blah......hopefully I'll be able to post a Thread asking some DIY tips...UNIT's going to look good......you going to have sunset/sunrise...?
