Well do fish NARC? Any info on the subject someone? Importers of LS how do you overcome Nitrogen narcosis in your imports. Hmmm...Ideas..

Hi Nemo's I don't think that fish become narc'ed. BUT, what I do know, that sometimes deep water fish, or fish that get's caught from deeper water sometimes are brought up far too fast, and one of 2 things happen - fish do indeed get the "bends" (gas bubble disease) as well as sometimes their swim bladder explodes....

HHmmm - you see Keith - being "narc'ed" means suffering from "nitrogen narcosis". As marine fish do not breath "air" as such, that contains nitrogen, they cannot suffer from "nitrogen narcosis".

BUT, they can indeed suffer from something similar to "the bends" (even though this is also related to nitrogen build-up) - and this, they can indeed get, both when they come up to fast (or are brought up to fast), or when they go high up in the air.

Like after SCUBA diving a lot in ie. a week, and then flying - the possibility exists that the fish could start suffering from "this issue similar to 'the bends'" ;)
