Ok guys anyone been on these short 3/4 day ship cruises? Like to Mozambique or somewhere - Married 10 years next February thought could take the wife on a short ship cruise as she doesn't like water too much but maybe I could relish the underwater life on this trip.... Any of these cruises allow you to bring specimens home?

Yup been to Portuguese isle on one and inhambane on another

great fun - won't be an issue if she doesn't like water. Definitely can't bring specimens back ;)

yip also been to Moz with one. No you cannot bring back specimens, sorry chica

LOL!!!! Cant believe you would ask that... Its a Pleasure Cruise not a collection lets organise a mass collection cruise....

The Cruise to Inhambane is really cool! Just watch getting sea sick. Most people do... The easiest way to combat that is just stay drunk. Worked for me :)

Yip been on the Symphony about two years back. Stopped over at Bazuroto. I did not go with the intention of bringing back specimens, so dont know hey. Im going in Feb again on the Synfonia (spelling?).

chikaboo , jut watch with whom u go with , there was an ad in the local paper where food for indians was not catered for and u being a vegetarian also ....
just check properly and i advise against the "budget" ship trips

Thinking about the food might be safer to stick to Durbs home of the beans bunny chows ;) Thanx guys so far got 2 other couples want to as well so will do some checking - do most of these cruises leave from Durban? Anyone got some contact details please?

Thanx man just dont get the pic of those that are seasick - Have you spoken to anyone about a get together for end of Jan? Low tides at an "awakable" time of 10am on the Sat 30th? Or maybe start a new thread?

lol.
We will work on it soon as to when we will have the get together. We need a beach that is easily accessible for guys like us with families. Sheffield was too hectic last year, ask Viper :p

i just got back from a 5 day cruise on the sinfonia - was AWESOME! went to maputo and barra lodge. also been on the melody a few years ago. well worth it IMO. not your average holiday experience. and they catered for vegetarians as well.

Thanx can you plz pm me some contact details plz - I think I take the wife on our tenth wedding anniversary in February - Never mind the specimen collecting - will do that another time

The Synfonia is in DBN harbour today. Looking awesome! Chika, I am also going in Feb, looks like we might just meet up.

When you going in Feb - maybe we can conspire a plan to hide the specimens between our cabins;) Seriously though heard the snorkling at Inhambe (spelling) is breathtaking!

I also might be going in feb / march. Maybe we can all sync up! :)
Sorry Deon I meant to thank you for link - the trip looks like alot fun - I see there's different places to go to with lots of stuff to do - I'm sure we can meet up - I dont have a set date to go - just thought it be a great anniversary gift for the wife putting up with me for 10 years! So if you guys give me some tentative dates I can see what I can do about meeting up

Cool no problem. If its your wife's trip you should enjoy it!

Ive been on 2 trips and the Barra Lodge cruise was the best. Just long enough.

If you can organise a dive before the time or get off the boat first its a MUST!!!

They usually battle with weather and certain things to allow you to go onto the islands like portugese islands. Barra ive only heard of not landing twice. We landed in rain and returned in rain. Was an awesome cruise thou. You'll enjoy it!

If either of you suffer from sea sickness. I suggest not going cause it can ruin a trip badly. However i just stayed drunk and i was fine :) The last day when we were coming back i decided to get a good nights sleep... and i didnt feel lekker the next day.

Otherwise great trip!

Went on the melody last year to bazaruto. Basically left monday, whole day was spent on checking in, getting through customs etc etc (was a real ballache) and eventually leaving the dock. Tues was sailing, Wed stopped off and got ferried to the island and could go diving a bit. Thurs sailing back and friday morning they kick you off. There's entertainment every night. 7 meals a day (early risers at 6am, breakfast, tea, lunch, tea, dinner, midnight snack at 12pm). Also a casino on board. There's some juice and stuff with the meals but if you want a coke or something all prices on the ship are in $ and a coke was around $1.50 (at R10/$1) so that added up quite quickly as it was really hot!
