Hi all reefers on MASA

After long deliberation we at Pet Stop decided to become sponsors on MASA and are looking forward to a mutual beneficial relationship.

We at Pet Stop LOVE

our marines. Due to this passion we (Moolis and Shawn) attempt to know as much as possible and always make sure that this section of Pet Stop is well stocked with healthy live stock and a variety of good quality hardware.
We are so proud of our PRESENT Marine section that I am willing to state that it is definitely 1 of the top shops in South Africa and without doubt worth a visit.

If you are looking for corals, we have 340 + corals of 60+ different species in stock NOW!

After the renovations (before December 2008) we will have double this capacity.
If fish are your preference we have lots in stock and our hardware shelves are overflowing with stock. So much so that if we want to introduce a new product we need to discontinue an existing product.

Pet stop is not only a marine shop but also do the following:

Reptiles and related products – we actually have 1 of the biggest selections of reptiles in Gauteng and attempt to match our MARINE section in quality, variety, stock and advise. Definitely worth visiting if you are interested in reptiles
Tropical fish and related products – as a breeder of tropical fish (97 species) for 18 years before I opened Pet Stop, this is one of my personal soft spots and we always attempt to have a variety of healthy fish in stock. This is backed by our aquarium manufacturing and a well stocked hardware section.
Birds – due to space restraints we decided to specialize in hand reared baby’s
Dogs & Cats – lots of hardware and puppy’s when available, backed by a doggy parlour

We pride our self that all 15 our staff are well trained (2 hours intensive training every week and constant in service training) and always willing to help you.

So for an experience like nothing before in a pet shop Visit PET STOP.

Welcome to MASA Moolis. Sounds like you have good reason to be proud of your shop. Haven't ventured that far yet, still "new" to JHB, nevermind PTA...

The training sounds great. Definitely a lot more than I've ever heard of any pet shop giving. Are all 15 staff trained on marines or do the staff specialise a bit? What does the training involve?

Yes I'm new to this hobby. Looking after my brothers tank.
I've been to your shop. And yes, you are fully stock, close to overcrowded (Not that it is a bad thing).
And when your staff, have a photo of his own marine tank on his cellphone, you know that you are at the right place / salesman.

The 2 hours is mainly:

Looking from the outside in and analyzing every thing we do
Basic management (general and department specific)
Basic sales skills
Advanced product info (all departments)
Basic planning (general and department specific)
Basic analyses of any possible problem / scenario and planning in advance for it.

The in service training is department specific and really intense. This is not only verbal but in theory and practice. They get lots of reading to do and possible scenario�s to solve. The drawback is that I need to know all this before I could ask them to do it! (This mean I am Always busy)

Only 10 staff are sales orientated, the others build aquariums

, work in the doggy parlour and clean the shop + cages. But all of them are brilliant in their work and I am very proud

to employ each of them. (staff that do not fit do not last)
