How to resize your photo's

In order to resize your photo's for optimum viewing and uploading on the forum, the following steps are recommended:

1. Go to IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide and download the irfanview software, it is 100% free to use for life.

2. Once the software is installed, open up your photo in irfanview, it will look like something like this:

3. To resize the photo, click on Image and then Resize/Resample

4. Choose 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 then click OK.

5. You will now see your photo has been reduced, the next step is to click on Save and you will be presented with the following screen...follow the instructions I have highlighted in the yellow balloons in the order of 1, 2, 3

  • You may want to choose a different location to save your new photo just in case you don't want to overwrite your original pic.

  • Also make sure the "Save as type:" is on JPG/JPEG format.

Once you have done the above 3 steps, click on Save and your newly resized photo will be ready for uploading.

Go to the location where you saved the pic and check the file size, it should be under 225kb in order to be uploaded using our Image Uploader. If the filesize is still over 225kb then save the pic again using a lower number in step 3 above.

do u want pics of those dimensions on forums as in 800x600 (for horizontally shot images, verticle images need different settings!) or shoudl we crunch smaller....say 640x480 so as to save guys useing 3g and iburst with their down load cap?

but neat easy looking program that:)
 
800 x 600 is a nice size as it doesn't break the forum layout and fits nicely on most peoples screens.

If you want to post a bigger photo then you will have to use photobucket or imageshack or similar.
 
hey guys. i have found a fast easy way to resize your picture to post on this site

(provided you are running windows XP)
not sure if there are other versions for other OS.

but download a power tool called 'windows resizer power tool' for windows xp.

its free..
and works like a bomb.

just select the pictures you want resized. rightclick, and then resize them. it makes a copy of the pictures, so you still keep the original copy of your photo.
very nifty and super fast!
 
That works on Windows XP Furbz but not on Vista.
There is an easy way on Vista too however without having to download anthing.
1.Right click your pic
2.Click send to and select mail recipient.
3.A window will appear letting you change the size of the picture.
4.Your mail program will open with the adjusted file in the attachment field.
5.Simply click and drag to required folder
And voila!

use close image resizer....this works on vista and win7

Belindamotion thanks for the link unfortunately there is no link to a similar app on that site. Viper357 the link you provided will reduce visual size but not reduce or compress pic while retaining visual size
