hi guys
just started my tank up its about a week old now..
bought myself a nice piece of LR from the LFS and an odd crab crawled out of it after a week. this guy blends in well with LR and has hairly legs...
not sure if he is a good thing to have in a tank..
could you guys help ID him and let me know if you think he is ok to keep in my tank?

i currently have a bunch of hermits, 2 durban damsels(ugly things) a brittle star and a very small cushin star. ( i guess also from durban)
and a pretty cool looking urchin. lazo says its not a durban one. so not sure what it is??

got all the livestock from the former tank owner. put in new substrate and cleaned the tank so its just starting a new cycle..

i seem to be struggling to upload a pic. i resize it but it still keeps saying its to large.
once i get it working..

but ls help me ID this guy??
and is he a good guy or a bad guy...

Hi Furbz - DEFINITELY not a good crab to have in your tank.
It kills invertebrates....
Catch it if you can, and either return it to the LFS or put in your sump. BUT, don't leave it in your tank.

haha, was wondering why my hermits were dying... lost 2 to him so far...
stupid little... :banghead:

hey hey hey, mr mantis will never so no to any unwanted crab:)
Thanks nic3322 for thinking of me and mantis:thumbup:

So when are we watching the fight guys?

so lanzo my son.
its your mantus vs. my hairy leged crab...
stay tuned for the outcome of this fight!!
but to be safe, i'm gonna say the crab it totally screwed!!

my blenny is attaching the crab!! haha!
the crab crawled into my blennys, "home" (HOLE)
and the blenny is having none of it!!

Haha ;) If you can actually catch the crab you have to film Crab VS Mantis ;)

If you can't catch it just take the rock out, the mantis should fine it on his own ;)

also in these pics, other things i found on my LR.
help identify???

and this... its like a mussel or something, and every now and then it opens up (only a few mm tho)

The first 2 pics look like a harmless type of worm, the last pic could be a type of scallop maybe, not sure.
