Clown has something like a fungi hanging on the lower fin, help please!

Hey Guys,
My precious snowflake has something hanging on his lower fin,
It looked like a fin damage at the beginning but it started getting bigger,
its blueish color, looks like a rot , and its starting to cause swimming problem,

I have some guesses about what it might be,

Lymphocystis (its high possibility)
Fluke
Fungal infection
Parasite

Has anyone experienced it before?
Any help is appreciated.

Sorry about the bad pics,

Hmmm, might have to agree. Seems to be quite common with clowns when i look at the google pictures...

should remove it from the fin? or wait for it to resolve,
Based on the instruction on Non-sense guide to marine fish disease
The surgery is the last option and its not advised to do.
also heard methylene dip will help it quite a bit, any suggestion?

hadiobourne,

My 2 clowns had the same thing. Well my one new clown gave it to my other. I ended up dosing alternate days with Herbtana and Artemiss and doing many 50% water changes in my quarantine tank. In my case i took about 2 months to heal before I re-introduced them into my main tank.

thanks,
Did you end up doing the surgery or just left'em alone?
Where they as bad is this one?
Herbtana and artemiss was the only thing you used or you used other stuff also?

hadiosbourne,

Hard to tell based on the pictures, mine were a bit worse I'd say. I dont believe in surgery for fish so mine was only dosing. Provided they still have a healthy appetite (which mine did) you're fine generally.

Great, thanks!
Any specific reason you did so much water change?
How often you did it?

hadiosbourne,

I found the water smelt quite pungent and figured it can't be overly great for the fish, plus when I noticed the correlation in the improvement in the health of the fish with the water changes so I just carried on with it. I did manage the temperature and made sure I acclimatized them properly each time, bit of a schlep but worth it in the end. Clowns tend to be more durable. 50% water changes were sometimes twice a week and sometimes once.

Thanks elrond,
I also do the water changes merely because of the ammonia rise, because i feed the fish a lot in quarantine,
I will keep and eye on the parameter and will carry on regular water change.
thanks for the advise again,
By the way, some of that bluish thing came off, the fish looks a bit better and still eating well,
keep my fingers crossed!

Yeah! i couldn't be happier,

Will post some pics of the progress

does anyone advise the use of methylene blue dip?
