How to stop a clown hosting?

Tagging for this! Maybe adding a nennie for them, then they host nennie and not the goni
 
If the goniopora is small enough, you could cover it with a bottom of a coke bottle (or something similar) with holes in it for feeding and flow, but it would keep out your clowns.

If covered long enough, the clowns might find something else to keep them occupied?
This is just my thoughts, have not had the need to try it in practice :)

Edit: It might also help to post a pic of placement, so all the clever DIY guys can help you with a solution

adding a nennie is unlikley to help.

if the gonni is getting heavily rubbed it will start to loose tissue and most likley die. if you realy want to keep the goni you can cover it with a mess like structure (not a coke bottle as it needs flow around the coral) that is wide enough to let water pass through it but not the clowns.

else a possibly easier thing to do is light your sump and let the goni recover in there for a while and add a soft coral like a pincusion or some leather, xenia etc which the clowns can host it. Replace the goni's positio witha soft coral and it should get the clowns to host in there.
 
Oops double post and no photos! Will try again. @Rossi - I did think of this but as I have an enormous carpet nenni for the pair of clarkii's this really isn't an option (unless I get a bigger tank!)

They will not stop.
Nature, born in. Especially wild caught ones.

Tank bred are more likely to not host at all.

Best is to remove the Gonia and let the clowns find something else. They host in anything if they want to, pulsing zena, Pin cushions, hairy mushrooms, sinularia. These are normally ok with a clown clowning around. Frogspawn and Hammerheads do not like it that much.

Also the object of their affection must be at least double their size. Even with an anemone, too small an anemone and they could bother it so much that it struggles to survive.

On a seriuos note, yes it's going to hard. I have a goni, but because I have a big tank, with lots of zoas and four RBTA's, the clowns see to leave mine alone. Now and again, I will find one inside it, during the day, when the arms are full extended.

Or you can swop out the clowns with mine ,they dnt host lol....I have a lovely healthy pair of a black n white and common clown.... I have a rbta and they wnt host lol.....
