DIY LED Heat Sink by CW
Ok you all know what im doing so lets get into the details.
I got myself a aluminum sheet (800mm x 300mm x 2.5mm)
Also got some aluminum U channel (6500mm x 20mm x 2mm)
Then cut the 6,5m U channel in 8 pieces of (800mm x 20mm x 2mm)
Sanded the 800mm x 300mm x 2.5mm sheet to get it nice and smooth.
Then gave it to my neighbor and he took it to his work and bent the sides up 90deg.
50mm on each side
So now to get the positions of the U channel marked out onto the sheet.
Done.
Now to clean it nicely with some spirits then get everything needed to start glueing the U channel to the 800mm x 300mm x 2.5mm sheet.
This is normal CPU heat sink paste.
Ill use this to put in between the Ezee Bond for transferring the heat into the U channel (the heat sink fins)
And there we have it, the first u channel ready.
The Ezee Bond has two tubes, tube A and tube B.
Tube A get`s put on one of the two materials and tube B on the other.
Heat sink paste in between and then stick it down, move it side to side a little so everything spreads nicely then make sure its in position then you leave it alone.
The Ezee Bond leaflet says for at-least 2min it must not be moved. But im leaving it till tomorrow morning. It also says after 1hour and 30min then its fully cured.
One little problem.
I ran out of heat sink paste.
That sucks man. Luckily i got 6 pieces of U channel stuck with what i had.
Ill get some tomorrow and then stick the last two on.
So what do you think PPL?
