A 3m high aquarium build
Hi All
We are in the middle of an exciting new build. The client/architect brief was simple,an acrylic structure viewable from both sides, that just houses clownfish ![]() It is has the dimensions of 870mm long by 510mm wide by 2900mm high. It is constructed form 40mm acrylic with a black side box to hide all piping and equipment. This installation is extremely challenging from the construction to the installation. I must admit,we really had to wrap our brains around making this a reality, aquascaping, flow, equipment, space aaargh ![]() Construction...man this stuff is messy! ![]() Hey! dont close me in here ![]() ![]() Completed structure ![]() Final water test for any potential leaks...all good!

Odd shape indeed, these dimensions were given to us off the plan by the architect with the walls already constructed,we did not have much choice....

The magnet that floats is pretty essential, once the tank is complete it will be impossible to get to the bottom...any livestock that does not make it will have to naturally decompose...we had to design the filtration to accomodate this

This is residential....we will be doing the maintenance.
Lighting is one 400 watt 14K metal halide pendant, light reaching the bottom is not essential as its a fish only. We could have gone with a 1000 watt but felt it would light up the lounge too much. Filtration is a Reef Octo Bubble blaster skimmer,Ozoniser,UV and biopellet reactor. More pics to follow.... |

Interesting build, keen to see the end result. How many clownfish are they thinking of putting in there? I would imagine 20 or 30?
That's a brave young lady standing so close during a water test, lol. |

flappy do you think there will be any issues regarding oxygen because of the high volume compared to surface area ?

If you've got a good skimmer, I'd think it would be oxygenating it well. Could maybe run airstone in the sump/refugium, if there was a problem. I'm a newbie though, so the experts would have the best answers.
