My second reef!
Hi guys
So I decided the 270L was getting a bit small (funny how that happens )Anyway i bought the tank from @mandarin who was kind enough to deliver it to my house on Saturday. Here as some specs:
One of my questions would be surrounding the sump. It's probably a bit small and it doesn't have any baffles. I looked at my sump and there were no bubbles to speak of before the water enters the first baffle so i guess my skimmer doesn't produce too many bubbles that enter the tank so im not too concerned with adding baffles? Some pics 1.The new arrival ![]() 2. Removed the doors and new paint job. I will re-paint the doors then attach them ![]() 3. Overflow ![]() ![]() 4. Sump ![]() 5. Hood ![]() Cheers

Nice looking tank and good luck with the build!
My 2c... I would add two more tubes of light. Considering the width and depth of this tank..., yip, that's what I would do. __________________ Dewald Thiart / dewald@dorrypets.co.za / Shop Number: 012 653 0351

Great looking tank bud.... I especially like the coast-to-coast setup... awesome.
Just a question: Are you going the chiller route? My hood is similar, and when I first installed the lights (6 x 54w T5's, 2 x 39W T5's) I also mounted the ballasts on the side... Those ballasts get very very hot and heat up the hood bigtime... I then mounted them on a board on the floor away from the tank and got 2 degrees cooler. My newby 2c worth ....

Hi
Well im not gonna run a chiller so will have to monitor the temps and possibly move the ballasts to the wall/floor or something. With winter coming up it shouldnt be a head ache anytime soon

Ok so bit of a problem. The stand isnt going to fit through any of the doors to get inside the house. My only alternative is too remove the window pane in the lounge and bring it in like that. Anyone ever done that? Its about a 2m x 2m window
Other option is to cut the frame up with something and weld it back - would that work ?

I guess cutting and welding it is the best option - any1 here with a welding machine and experience with doing something like this ?

I saw a thread of one of the members in CT that removed his window frame...if it's easy out & in then that might be the better option than cutting & welding again as you might not get the frame even...?

Another option i just of is to cut the bottom centre beam out and pivet it around the door into the house - then either weld it back or just use a metal plate and rivet them back together. That way i compromise very little of the support structure of this stand
