Off a little reef about 700m offshore!
Lost 2 Mauritian goldies!!! (again!!!) when the sea is good I will get them!
Best part is they love flake... think the local ones because our water gets dirty here and full of debri, they must be used to eating particles instead of only plankton!! Maybe??!!!

scuba then i've found in the past that hiring those short kayaks from ushaka or DUC works well - they can easily accomodate the scuba gear between your legs. then you can tie off the boat to the reef, and leave catchboxes etc at the surface.

Good idea.
Last time I scuba-ed off Limestone I swam there and back.

I think one of those big Kayaks has to get added to my "WANTED" list.
Hopefully we get lucky with the water on Saturday?

Are those numbers way over the limit for the day's catches on the goldies? Are we not allowed 5 of the same species?

Chikaboo, you are right about catch limits! there were 3 guys that dived with and they all have there aquarium/catch permits, so it was spread evenly... But here is the big dilemma... Goldies live much better in a tank, maintain their bright colours and feeding patterns etc if they are in small shoals... I have a few friends that have different sized tanks their is no sure fire amount but from all of these guys experiences I've seen a aqua H20 (130L) housing 3, a 1m by 500 by 500 housing 5
a 1,2m by 600 by 500 housing 7 a 1.8m by 600 by 600 with about 11 & my 2.7M by 600 by 600 has about 13 including a male.
I'm sure guys out there have even more in tanks these sizes????? would be interesting to hear their luck, including mixing species... coz I'm gonna get some mauritians soon (hold thumbs!!!!)

Thanx bud ... thats the advantage of group specimen collecting ... when the strong arm of the law comes around its so much easier to convince them if there are few people in the group ...
