Question DSB Lighting Question?

Howzit,

Jus a quick question here...

I have a energy saver light lighting up my dsb at night, but what is the recommended amount of time one should have the DSB area lit up?

I want the pods n stuff t grow, does too much light time have a negative impact on pods and chaeto?

Too much light can cause nuisance algae to grow on your chaeto if you have high nutrients, happened to me loooong ago
On my last tank I had them on for 8 hours at night.

Just for the guys that doesn't know - you don't need a light on the DSB if you don't have macro algae in there. I saw a guy once doing that, he thought the critters need light as well.

Evaporation top-ups are done with RO water only, not saltwater
What are you doing? Real men don't put tangs in a nano or nennies in a new tank!

Yip, just the chaeto or whatever other macro algae is used. Obviously you'll need a decent light should you keep coral frags in the sump, but the pods don't need light, infact they like the dark cause that's when they scatter for food and
