hy guys

ive read somewhere that armourplate glass is 8times stronger than normal float? (obviously same width) any comments??
 
Yes heard the same thing, but tuffened glas is also very stronger then normal glass and deffinetley sheaper...

cheaper? the armour that im talking about is much more expensive than normal clear float.
 
Sorry I mean cheaper then armourplate...

sounds great Frans but i stay in George. can you get good pricing on normal 10mm?

i was just wondering cause i got a few big panels for free and have been using them on big tanks with no problems so was just looking for your (MASA members') view

No sorry man, they only do armored glass. Getting anything for free is a bonus anyways :)
 
From what I've read toughened glass is 4 times stronger than regular float glass. I can't comment on Armourplate but both options should be more expensive than regular float glass and they have to pass it though a kiln to heat and cool it a few times in the toughening process.

im not referring to safety glass frans. there is no plastic lamination in the middle. the glass is one solid piece

Toughened glass is 16 times stronger than normal float glass. The process they use to toughen the glass gives the glass a very high surface tension. it makes the glass strong to blunt blows but as soon as you brake the surface tension with something sharp you end up with a hand full of diamonds;).
That’s why car jackers use spark plugs to break car windows quick and effective. On the weight issue... float and toughened weighs the same as it’s the same piece that’s just been heat treated

so is toughened glass and armour plate the same thing??
