This is not my own plans however I found plan on the net. This was the easiest build ever with the cheapest raw materials.

dug around friends back yards until I found standard PVC underground sewer pipe.
Bought cap ends at hardware store.

Internal piping was from 10mm silicone tubing. (used about 20m)

Connectors I used the 12mm irrigation connector also found at your local hardware.

Note that unit is under pressure so ensure that inlet and outlet must be properly sealed and stable.

Also make sure that the 10mm pipe has no kinks in it when assembling as this will restrict flow. Simple - test blow through inlet. If difficult to blow through start open up and check piping for kinks. This part gave me the biggest headache. Suggestion do not take coiled piping right up to the top.

Have fun and enjoy.

I think you found those plans on about.com. I built one but never used it and I found it better to wind the pipes around the outside of the 100mm tube

Hi,
How effective are these coil denitrator's when compared to an algae scrubber?
Cheers

If set up properly and fed with bacteria and food they're very effective and reducing nitrates. ATS will remove phosphates as well but a denitrator wont

Hi tony,
When you say "fed" is that with a carbon based food source like sugar?
I see that the article says that it does not require feeding, would feeding sped up the bacteria growth or is constantly required?
Cheers

Feeding a carcon source like vodka, sugar or vinegar and bacteria will quickly seed it with anaerobic bacteria, this is providing the flow through the denitrator is slow enough
