it sounds strange that the nennie takes 30 ins to close over a piece of food, its normally far quicker than that. How often do you feed the nennie? and what do u feed, also how big?
are there any clown hosting in the nenie, they often defend the territory quite activley and prevenbt other things from taking the food from a nennie ? __________________ one of the best marine quotes ive heard... "In general, and this is just my opinion here, I think there are no real "rules" when it comes to this hobby. I think there's such great variation even among systems that seem similar, that you just have to keep trying different things until you find something that works for you. Then, once you find that thing that works, don't f--- with it!!!"

feeding the tank 5 mins before does help, catch everything giving problem like the shrimp with the net, next time you feed and they see the net, they will take cover. I had a similar problem with the clowns, fed them prior and a few times in the sump when the nemmies were being fed, they soon learn to behave.
