Adee's tank

Ok...so in the beginning way back some 6 years ago, I started with a fish only tank.

that was then...

This is what is looks like today...more or less.

Tank is all 10mm glass. 2m x 60cm wide. Total system volume is about 1200L's

DT Lighting consists of 4 x SE 250 BLV (20k's) Nepturion's

In the DT, I have about 80x flow (4 x 10 000lph Seios & 2 x 12000lph Sun Sun's).

Tech stuff:
Skimmer TS3, Haliea Ozonizer, Haliea 1000b Chiller, 2 heaters, Phosban - Carbon reactor.

Filtration:
About 60 kilos LR in sump, 80kg's playsand DSB.

DIY (all glass) Algae Scrubber.
Powered by 8 x Sylvania GrowLux T5 lamps @ 23w each.

Dosing:
Daily with TM Iodine, every 4 days Seachem Stroti and same with Seachmen Reefbuilder
Twice a week Prodibio (just started)
Alk and Ca (self mix home brew) - I use the Balling method, Profilux Controller 2 pump Auto Doser.
Auto top up system with linked to an external 120L bin which fed by an RO Unit

Water changes weekly using Tetra Marine Salt, 120L water change. Change carbon every 2 weeks, I use Waterboy's stuff.

Plumbed in frag tank 60cm x 60cm x 25cm. Lit by 2 x DE 150W mh's. One is a 10k Venture the other a 20k BLV.

Alk 9dkh (test once a week, TM Kit)
Ca 420ppm (test once a month, TM Kit and Elos)
Salinity 1.026
PH ranges 8.1-8.4
Nitrates and Phosphates are un-detectable (Elos Kits)
water temp,I try and maintain at 26 degrees

Fish:
8 anthias
4 pyjama cardinals
Powderblue
Sailfin
Regal
Foxface
Cleanerwrasse
Copperband
2 Yellow tangs
blue yellow tail damsel

2 cleaner shrimp (mated pair - witnessed spawned hatchlings)
2 serpent brittle stars
About 80 snails and hermits

Corals...mostly SPS's...need to get down to ID'ing them all sometime.

That's it for now.

Later
Adee

Adee one thing that is talked very little on this forum is the bailing method. You might like to elaborate on your experiences of the system on another thread some.

For now i am sure you will get a flood of questions so enjoy.

one of the best marine quotes ive heard... "In general, and this is just my opinion here, I think there are no real "rules" when it comes to this hobby. I think there's such great variation even among systems that seem similar, that you just have to keep trying different things until you find something that works for you. Then, once you find that thing that works, don't f--- with it!!!"

Thanks for the comments guys.

Will post more pics, sorry time is not at my side at the moment.

I will start a separate thread on the scrubbers. I have 2 versions that I have built, my latest, I'm sure is a one of a kind.

Hi Trad...Funny u ask that....I cured the lot then swopped out 30% of it from my DT.

My plans to extend the wendyhouse into a sunlight "outside" set-up did not materilise, simply don't have the time.

I then took a complete reverse turn and removed about 60kilo's out of the display tank and thinned things out considerably. So most of your rock never made it into my tank, plus the rock from my set-up.

I have sold the lot, being collected on the weekend.

Somehow I get the feeling I'm going to wish I had not sold it all...

Thanks...I really thought long and hard around this and weighed the options of the full CARX set/up as well....I've also never owned a kalkstirrer either.

Correct, the "balling method" community is very small, very cost effective in my opinion, especially when my dailly Ca consumption is 16ppm and I lose Alk at a rate of 1.8dKh a day. There are some great articles on the overseas forums around this.
