Maroons are the Mac daddys of clownfish, built to kill :)

I havnt kept a pair but have seen a pair brutalize a powder blue tang!

Shouldnt be too difficult to keep, the real challenge is getting them to breed

If you get them as a pair to start then you are better off. Trying to build a pair later in the game is where the trouble starts. You can slowly get them accustomed to each other, say through separate compartments in a tank, but its not a sure-fire method for pairing. One of them must be smaller than the other. This one will be the male. As deadmeat says they are very aggressive, towards other clowns and even fish who come into their territory. I've seen a big maroon push a goldie that was swimming near its home right into an anemone as food. Scary. But, back to the point, try to get them as a pair to start. That's your best bet.

I kept a pair for over a year, they behaved like a normal clownfish pair toward each other, but the day they killed my navarchus angel was the day they got sold...almost killed my regal angel as well

Sounds scary i have regal tand jaw fish an a coral beauty , watchman gobie an a canary wrase
So Wud suggest any other clown are the common clowns the oclericas clown

I have a pair of black percula clowns, and in the other tank a pair of common clowns. Last weekend saw 2 amazing clown selling as a pair, hole clown white only the face is orange.

Hi Mandarin:thumbup: I bought a pair from Brent just over a month ago. I know that he had it for quite a while with no problems. They are getting along well with my fish. I have a regal tang, about 13 goldies, pair of
Bengal cardinals, 1 clown and four other cardinals, 5 fire gobies and a dolphin wrasse. They look great in the tank. The female is about 8-10cm

i was at Northlands yesterday, think the black percula clowns are sold because im sure i would have noticed them, some very nice fish there though

There where 2 pair of white clown fish they where holding them in small containers separate from other fish. They expensive but really stunning. I already have clowns both tanks, if not i would have bought them.
