Hi Guys

Noticed my sixline wrasse seems to be a bit agitated. he was twitching and i decided to take a closer look and this is what I found right next to the eye...



Any takers ?

not very clear if it is a whitish looking oval bug it is a sea lice

Maybe Brooklynella parasite, have you put it in quarantine yet?

Might also have just injured its eye which got infected as well.

Thats what I am hoping for that it is just an injury. It is definitely not Brooklynella, My tank would have been wiped out by now . I am leading towards sealice or the dreaded ISOPOD
Just wann know if anyone has had experience with this? Not much on the net about it. Except a nifty trick to catch them if they are free swimming !

I don't know what to look at on you'r picture.....possible to get a better picture..? Unless you know for sure from the other Reefers what problem you'r Fish might be having as I don't know them...I only read up and match the "symptoms"...sometimes I score and sometimes I miss......Could it be something like this...? Just plain Gill Flukes..? If it's not...can you explain to me what I must look for on the picture...? The "white bump" next to the eye...?

These parasites are worms that are most often seen on butterfly fish, angelfish, and wrasses. Usually, only one or two fish are infected but it can spread to all the fish in a short time. Common names include gill flukes and skin flukes.


They will appear as tiny worms, but can be very difficult to see on the fish. They usually attack the gills of the fish but also will attack the eyes too.

I dont know about anyone else, but getting a good picture of a sixline is near impossible!

actually mine is an easy fish to photograph, he is fat, confident and likes me so often comes forward for food.....but that series of pics was done with him inspecting his reflection. i dropped all the house lights and just had tank lights on so he was displaying some aggresion.
