orange striped triggerfish?

Any orange striped triggerfish owners? Am thinking of starting a tank with 1 of these, or a picasso. Any experience? Thanks (Tank will be about 600 litres)

Even though he's a beauty, this guy has the reputation of being the most aggressive triggerfish! Which means the Undulate Triggerfish or Orange-lined Triggerfish may be the most aggressive fish, period! Actually they are okay when they are small, but get cantankerous as they get older.

Balistapus undulates (Orange-lined triggerfish) will like an aquarium with plenty of rocks, caves, and other decor for hiding and play spaces.Orange-lined triggerfish like to re-arrange the décor, so heavy objects must be fastened well. Good water quality is necessary and the temperatures should be kept in the high 70’s. pH should be 8.2-8.4. Strong circulation and filtration is a big plus.

They are very aggressive. 600l is a little small for a mature undulate trigger fish.

What other fish would you like to keep?

600L is to small these guys grow huge and they are super aggro so if you keep him and him alone then you should be ok.
Also dont let any small children, pets or anything that could get eaten near him
You better off keeping a shark (they less aggro )

Small? So far my research reckons that'll do. But you think it really will be too small? Hmmm... I can't really go bigger, as the size is dictated by a given space, not longer than 1.8m.

No other fish, as I've read they are grumpy buggers... But I've been fascinated by triggers for as long as I can remember and made the mistake of visiting a few stores the othe day And now the desire has become too strong

I don't have kids, so can't feed them to any potentials.. hehe

What about the picasso? Better suited for my size?

The Picasso Triggerfish or Huma Huma Trigger are known to have a pretty good disposition for a trigger and are generally a peaceful fish.

Can be aggressive towards members of its own species and fish that are the same size.

I think that the repugnant, murderous nature of the big triggers is half of their appeal. And the fact that they're truly beautiful. My fav till now has been the totally peaceful clown trigger. I was shattered when I lost him to unknown causes lately. Am now the proud owner of TT the Tartan Terror. Aka Balistoides viridescens.

What's your opinion on the tank size? 600 litres not going to cut it for the undulate?

I LOVE this Fish..never even considered it for my Tank upgrade as it's "aggro"...you said you'rs was peaceful...luck of the draw...? or not as aggro as their "reputation" states...?

if you love triggers there are many that arent absolute terrors which you could try, although a 600l is a little small for them i think.

You could have a go with Blue Throat triggers, Niger Triggers, Pink Tail triggers, Crosshatch triggers or clown Triggers before you start having to realy worry about aggresion issues.

I know of divers that avoid sections of reefs due to nesting triggers and the way they attack on sight!

I've seen videos of triggers attacking divers and sharks!
