Polario ML22 - 22000lph flow pump review

Nice review Rory!!

Oh well, my controller started making a noise today. Sounded like a car with a dead battery trying to start. Opened it up but all no wires were touching the fan, tested the unit with it open and the sound was gone. Closed it up and there the noise was again....Well the backup is pretty good, A new controller is going to be sent to me tomorrow.

Has anyone worked out what this noise issue is ?

Mine seems to make this noise when starting up, for about a minute, and also if I move the controller around.

Other than that it seems to be working fine

Must it be replaced ?

Warr is it the controller and the pump?

Thanks for taking the time to inform us about the powerheads. It would probably do the job of my two Vortechs but at a fraction of the cost.

thanks rory that was very imformitive..

thanks rory!! that was an awesome review!!! i am still thinking about getting one of these so this helps buckets!!

Now that was a pleasure to read. Unbiased and very informative.

Great review! Well put Rory! However that 'whine' can actually be heard from quite a distance even though mines is connected inside of the tank. Nothing too serious though.

Cool review! Should definitely have more of these

Nice review Rory, I think this is the sum totla of all your posting for the last year ;)

You must be really impressed if you went through all this effort, nice one :)

Thanks Rory

Good reveiw.

Check how only one person gave me some rep... :whistling:

Thanks Warr!

Hey guys. Would this be too much for a tank 1000 x 500 x 500 being softy dominated? Dont think the mushies would appreciate so much flow. But the to and fro movement is so cool!!!

The flow rate can be turned down on the controller so it should be fine.

I'd say it would be too much but it's just my opinion. Maybe you can organise to borrow one from someone? The flow can be turned down but the lowest is at least 60% power or so so still over 12000lph...

yes. I know someone who has a 1200*900w*600 and it was too much for his tank.

mmm considering trading in my vortech for one of these puppies, wonder how it will do on a 1.5 x .700 x .600 im sure the flow could be subdued bu rockwork etc...

any comments?

Yes Leslie. I am STILL VERY tempted for one as well, but my tank will be too small I think (1.2 x 450 x 450...) I would go for it if I was you. Just one little concern I have is the guys complaining of noise issues when the unit isn't even very old!

But the surge action MUST be incredible!! Thats why I also want one. Damn, couldn't they just make one to be like 9000 litre per hour?

jaco my way of thinking is if i deflect the flow off closley surrounding rockwork it will be fine in my 1.2 untill i get the 1.5 built.. i am also a little concerned about the noise as they are not cheap pumps and i feel they should be completley silent but then again neither is my vortech.. i have actually had friends reach for their cellphones when the pump changes frlo pattern as it is quite noisey.. any chance of an audio on the noise of the polario to let us hear if its really worth making a fuss over?
