Hi all...Ok so today I started with my new journey.Bought the tank that @Firetrap had for sale.. Tank is in stunning condition I must say.. Spent almost whole day cleaning the tank (corraline is a b#€$h to remove) and taking it apart etc also looking where what can be modified:tt2: as there will be done.. Tank is already drilled and has a sump with TS1 skimmer.. So for now the tank is empty and no I did not clean the back of the tank as its was a nightmare to clean the front and sides..Will be taking my time with this tank (banks fault) getting all the rest of the stuff to get her running.. Im super excited.. Cant wait to top my Tl-450 I had...
Anyway I will update as I go...
Thanx guys and gals...

Looking good.

How much did you pay for the tank?

Coraline is easy to remove. Stanley paint scrapper with a new blade. Full the tank with water, place it flat on the glass and it flies off.

No scratches

Hey all..Quick update.
Sofar got my Aragonite 2x10kgs Pink Reef Red Sea Reef Base(One dry and one live sand).
Got 2x Tunze Stream 6025 Pumps that i will use as my flow for time being.
Also got my stuff to change the overflow that is 20mm now..Changing to 32mm.
Need to change my sump and need start working on that ASAP.

Need advise on the sump plz all you cleaver guys.
Its not very big as it fits in the RSM130 cupboard its something like 430(l)x350(w)x330(h).I really need some suggestions here on this..For now it will only be the TS1(I'm looking to upgrade to the BM Curve 3 or maby 5 in future) and the return pump (Eheim 1000-2000Lph) and maby a 150w heater as there is a 300w in the tank..

I would like to add maby a DSB or Refugium but not sure if space will allow for it..So i need some advise on what you guys and gals would suggest on this front..im uploading some pics of how the sump is now but will be stripping it as its very (stupid) design in my opinion..

Also who maby has or know some one that has a 40mm Glass hole saw that i can hire or borrow to make the hole for my overflow bigger..I'm not gonna pay R460 for a saw that im gonna use once..If anybody can help or advise on that front i would be forever in your debt..:whistling:

So looking forward to all your comments and advise on this..
Thank..

your sump is too small for a DSB.

I experimented with Seachem Matrix on my sons TL550. I'm very impressed with it. He did not change the tank into a green forest at all. I do suggest looking into this product. Especially since it will not take up a lot of space in your sump.

The TS1 skimmer is good, nothing wrong with it.

Hi

I like this design, cause it allows for a refugium, but requires a very small footprint skimmer.

Thanx I will look into it..Plz let me know how it goes with the 550...Reason I wanna change to the bm skimmer is smaller footprint with the pump being inside the skimmer body..You maby have a idea for me for the sump compartments...You think I can maby do a small refugium?

Ahhh wow this looks stunning..Just a pity about the skimmer..:(

from what i have read the TUNZE 9004 is that small and a beast

Ok so I got a new toy for the tank...Geez cant wait to get the tank up and running...Now I wonder if I should keep the TS1 or sell it..hmmm..

that a marine sources skimmer?

Hey ok so got my hole saws today and drilled the 40mm hole that was needed...So since I cant remove the filtration part of the tank I had to make a plan to get somekind of overflow..So this is what I did..Do you guys think it will work..The "overflow" can slide up and down the pipe to adjust water level in the tank..its the only thing I can think of..Some input/criticism would be great from you guys and girls..
Cant wait to get the tank wet..

Great idea.

The "overflow" can slide up and down the pipe to adjust water level in the tank
How do you do this and keep a seal between the pip and box? in case power goes out and the water slowly keeps on draining.
