I have an amusing story to tell... I have this royal blue tang who refused to eat any kind of vegetable matter. Weird, I know. But I swear, it wouldn't eat Nori or any other kind of seaweed. I even tried to trick it into eating it by soaking it in juices from meaty food. I even tried soaking it in Selcon. But it was so stubborn! At some point, I noticed it was starting to get a little lateral line disease, which I'm sure was due to its poor diet. Of course, it ate plenty of everything else, so it was also getting a little thick in the middle. I was so frustrated. I had a fat fish that was I worried was going to die from malnurishment.
Then one day, I put a small yellow tang in the system and, of course, it ate up the Nori with great enthusiasm. And guess what? As soon as the royal blue saw the yellow tang eating the Nori, it rushed up, pushed the yellow tang aside and starting eating up the Nori as fast as it could. Ugh! And, sure enough, with in a few days, the signs of later line disease were already starting to fade. Now he's quite healthy-- now that he's finally eating a healthy diet.
I swear, these fish are like little kids. After all my efforts to get this blue tang to eat its Nori, all it took was another fish to want it. I should have known... my toddler is the same way!
