With running your qt in hypo,1.009,for 8 weeks, what issues Orr things should I watch out for besides when doin 30percent water changes and ensuring the salinity doesn't differ.

How are the other params like ph and calcium at this low salinity?

Also read up tht para guard shouldn't be used I low salinity as will cause the fish more stress?

Long term exposure to hypo can cause HLLE
So you should be careful and check the fish for signs.

Ok thanks, maybe do hypo for 28 days then up Salinity slowly then para guard the tank for 14 days

Amy suggestions from @Nemojanitor @dallasg

Can I ask why hypo?
What is your goal for QT? Making sure fish eats and is healthy?

My view is As follows, run QT at 1024 an observe fish for a few days, get it eating and used to your feeding regime, don't add to the stress, if it gets spots etc then treat, but after 3-4 weeks if all is well you can look at introducing, can look at 8 weeks then fish should be strong enough etc

That's my view in QT, adding stress just makes fish worse

I have ws in my tank, thus I'm moving all fish from DT to QT tank and run hypo to kill the WS off from fish in QT and run DT fish less to rid the it from WS.

Or what will u advise to do to rid fish from it and clear the DT

Most fish carry it in my view, they get it when they not in good health and the protective mucus layer is thin and ich attaches

So keeping them healthy and stress free will help, QT will help as its easier to monitor. Look at using paraguard and immuvit to help boost immune system, works for me

Got para guard ,garlic and will get immune it and leav the hypo then

Thks

I am with dallasg on this one. I share the same outlook with regards to qt. Only treat when necessary.

Is there a possibility of a ws free tank, or will there always be ws?
Yes.

But you should not introduce fish directly from the LFS.

I believe in the bucket method for 10 days. Then in a quarantine holding tank for another 4 to 5 weeks. Only then does it go into my tank.
